Streamlined my shipping process

I switched to ShipStation about six weeks ago for my small online business, primarily for the multi-carrier shipping and automation rules. The initial setup was straightforward, connecting it to my Etsy shop was a breeze. I especially liked setting up rules so certain products automatically get sent via USPS Ground Advantage. I also used their Rate Calculator a few times to compare costs, which was helpful. My favorite feature has to be the Branded Tracking Page; it gives a professional touch. I had one question about international shipping labels and their support got back to me within a day. The mobile app is decent for quick checks but I do most of my work on the desktop version. It really helped me consolidate my shipping efforts and save time.

Good for orders, small issues

I've been using ShipStation for a few months now, mainly for the order management system and UPS shipping. It integrates well with my Shopify store, and creating labels is generally smooth. The reporting and analytics are helpful for keeping track of things. My only real gripe was getting the custom packing slips to look exactly how I wanted; it took a bit more tinkering than I expected. Overall, it's a solid tool that saves time, but some features could be more intuitive to set up.

Quick labels, easy to use

I needed a way to print labels fast. Tried ShipStation's free trial. Batch label printing was great. Got my orders out quick. Simple and effective.

Shipping software made easy

I signed up for ShipStation last month and it's been pretty good. I used the free trial to start, which was awesome. Shipping orders is so much faster now, especially with the batch label printing. It just connects to my store and everything's there. Made my life a lot simpler, for sure.

I heard ShipStation is owned by Stamps.com. Does that mean I get a free Stamps.com account if I sign up for ShipStation?

B Ben 1 month ago
Yes, I believe a Stamps.com account is included with your ShipStation subscription if you use USPS through them. It's kind of baked in.

C Cleo H. 1 month ago
Yeah, you get the benefits of a Stamps.com account for USPS shipping rates and services as part of your ShipStation plan, afaik.

Anyone know if ShipStation works well for international orders? Like, does it handle customs forms easily?

C Cody Okafor 1 month ago
Yeah, it generates international shipping labels and helps with customs documentation. It's pretty straightforward, just make sure your product descriptions are accurate.

I send stuff to Canada and Europe all the time with it. It fills out most of the customs stuff automatically which is a huge time saver.

Can I use my existing UPS account and rates with ShipStation, or do I have to use their discounted rates?

T Tom Torres 2 months ago
Yep, you can link your own carrier accounts and use your negotiated rates. You don't have to use ShipStation's rates if yours are better.

M Megan 2 months ago
Yeah, I use my own FedEx account no problem. It just pulls your info right in.

Hey, thinking of trying ShipStation for my Etsy store. What's the deal with the free trial? Is it really 30 days or can I get more time?

L Lisa 2 months ago
Yeah, they usually have a 30-day one right on their site. But sometimes if you go through a partner like Shopify or something, you can snag a 60-day trial. Worth checking for that!

D Dan Romero 2 months ago
I got the 30-day directly from their main page. It's plenty of time to figure out if it works for you.

How do you actually apply a promo code if you have one? I don't see a field during signup.

M Marcus Okafor 2 months ago
Usually, those special promo codes are tied to specific sign-up links from partners. So you click the link and the deal is just applied when you start your trial.

N Noor P. 2 months ago
Yeah, it's not like a coupon code box you type into. If you got a specific deal, it's usually embedded in the link you use to create the account.

I'm looking at their pricing and it's a bit confusing. Does ShipStation charge per label printed, or is it just a monthly fee?

J Jared Q. 2 months ago
It's a monthly subscription fee based on your plan and order volume. They don't charge per label on top of that, which is good.
5
G Greg T. 2 months ago
Monthly fee. The number of orders you process determines which tier you're on, but you can print as many labels as you need within that order limit.

Is ShipStation cloud-based or do I need to download some software to my computer?

N Nick Vargas 1 month ago
Totally cloud-based. You just log in through your web browser. They do have something called ShipStation Connect if you need to link a label printer to your computer, but the main app is all online.

B Brett 1 month ago
No download needed for the main system. Just go to their website and log in. Super convenient.

My business is pretty small, only like 50 orders a month. Is ShipStation overkill or is there a plan that makes sense for low volume?

G Gwen 2 months ago
They have a starter plan that's good for up to 50 orders a month. It's not super expensive and still gives you most of the core features.

T Tom 2 months ago
I started with them when I was doing about 30 orders. It's not overkill; the time savings even on low volume add up. Plus, you get those discounted rates.
